Dr Margaret Grace is a highly experienced Consultant Psychiatrist and Psychoanalyst with over 30 years of medical and psychiatric practice in Ireland and the UK.

She graduated in Medicine from the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland 

Professional Background

 

Dr Grace trained in general medicine before specialising in psychiatry. Her early career included posts in:

  • Beaumont Hospital, Dublin
     
  • Our Lady’s Hospital for Sick Children, Dublin
     
  • The Eastern Health Board Psychiatry Training Rotation
     
  • The Drug Treatment Centre
     
  • The Central Mental Hospital, Dublin
     

She completed Higher Specialist Training in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry in 2002 and was appointed Consultant Psychiatrist at the Royal Belfast Hospital for Sick Children, Belfast, where she worked until 2010.

In 2010, she chose to take a career break to focus on family life. She now brings both her professional expertise and life experience to her work with patients.

Qualifications

 

Dr Grace holds the following qualifications:

  • MB BCh BAO (Medical Degree), Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland
     
  • Diploma in Child Health (University College Dublin)
     
  • Diploma in Medical Management (RCSI)
     
  • Masters in Medical Science (Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy), UCD
     
  • Membership of the Royal College of Psychiatrists (MRCPsych)
     
  • Advanced Diploma in Psychological Trauma Management (Nottingham University)

Margaret combines medical expertise with psychological understanding, offering both diagnostic assessment and ongoing therapeutic support where appropriate.

Dr Grace believes that good psychiatric care is built on listening carefully and understanding each individual’s story. She works collaboratively with patients, ensuring they feel informed, respected and involved in decisions about their care.

Dr Grace has served as a board member for several charitable organisations, including:

She has also been actively involved in fundraising and community initiatives.


Personal Interests


Outside of clinical work, Dr Grace enjoys tennis, walking, gardening, cooking and cinema. She speaks fluent French and German and is an animal lover. She has twins who are currently living in China and London.
